Welcome to the North Hill Medical Group

North Hill Medical Group serves part of Colchester town centre and a large rectangular area to the north of the town. We have three surgeries: one in town, one in West Bergholt and one in Nayland. Each surgery is open five days a week and offers a full range of routine services. In this way the practice offers a convenient local service where each surgery team gets to know its patients well. At the same time, by working within a bigger group, we are able to offer a wide range of services. These include a dedicated Same Day team which ensures that patients can get help on the day when needed, and in-house referrals to doctors and nurses with particular expertise in certain areas.

Over the last ten years there has been continued major investment in each of our 3 sites, not only in the premises themselves but in equipment and continued training and development of all our practice staff. In 2005 we became an accredited training practice linked with Cambridge University, providing training for medical students and GP Registrars.

*************2017 ANNUAL FLU VACCINATION CLINICS******************

This year's flu vaccination clinics will be held on the following dates:

  • West Bergholt Surgery - 15th September 2017 - 9am - 6pm
  • Nayland Surgery - 22nd September 2017 - 9am - 6pm
  • North Hill Surgery - 29th September 2017 - 9am - 6pm

All eligible patients will receive a letter of invitation in the post giving details of the time they should attend the surgery for their vaccination.  If you are unable to make the flu clinic at your usual surgery please come along to one of the other clinics at the time indicated on your letter.  Alternatively please contact the reception team at your usual surgery who will be able to advise you on future clinics.

Please note all patients under 18 will not be invited to this clinic as the Department of Health have advised that the nasal spray will not be released until October.  We will write to all our eligible under 18's when we have clarification of the release date of the vaccinations.

Winter is now in full swing and as such we are getting a lot of patients asking for treatment for self limiting conditions like coughs, colds and sore throats.  Please follow the link below on information about these common conditions.  Please also visit NHS Choices for more information.

Information for patients with mobility problems or requiring easy access

Every few months the practice closes for an afternoon to allow us to undertake training for staff and GPs. This means that, on that day only, all our three surgeries close at 12.30pm instead of 6.30pm. On these afternoons, access to a GP is provided through the Out of Hours Service; you will be automatically directed to them from our usual surgery number.

The next training afternoon is in April 2017 - exact date to be confirmed.
